“Yin with Faye is a sacred ritual that wraps your nervous system in a warm loving embrace. Faye truly sees you a unique individual being with different requirements for moving and healing, and creates a safe space for you to feel seen and heard. Whilst as the same time giving full permission to have privacy when joining from zoom, or intimate small numbers when in person. Yin with Faye has given me balance and strength, and helped me to heal a pinched nerve in my shoulder. I recommend with all my heart any class, collaboration or educational opportunity that Faye presents”

I had the pleasure of attending yoga classes conducted by Faye Winmill at her Urban Calm Studio in Dunedin for almost two years. It was life enhancing experience and I have missed it greatly since Faye moved from Dunedin. Faye’s yoga technique- yin yoga- is very non confronting but deeply deceptively challenging. Faye’s presentation and guidance is at all times respectful of the individual and their personal space. I have attended various yoga classes over the years but none has been as satisfying and meaningful for me as those presented by Faye. She is a gifted teacher and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Faye sets a standard of perfection for herself and her teaching.  She is intent on creating for her students, the very best experience possible.  She is a very genuine, warm, generous and principled person.  I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Faye as a yoga teacher.  Every time I walk through the door of Urban Calm I feel a deep sense of gratitude towards Faye and the practice of Yin Yoga. Fast approaching my 70th Birthday, I have found the more I attend classes (most days!) the more I am benefiting from increased flexibility, strength and improved circulation. Practising Yin regularly also challenges me to move beyond what is 'comfortable'' and has been conducive to my experiencing the deeper side of the practice and more effective meditation. With Faye's unceasing support and encouragement, Yin has become a continuous process for me. The more I practice Yin the more I become aware of its benefits.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you however. I’m sure you won’t remember me limping into your classroom recovering from both dengue and some other virus with a foot that it was later found to have had the flexor tendons pulled off the bone. Anyhooo... I practised with you for a couple of weeks, it had a profound effect on me, it was the start of what would become a huge journey. When I left you suggested I read Bernie Clark’s Yinsights book. I duly did and doing little practises but continued to travel and dive, gaining both technical and cave certifications. Eventually I came back to yoga and again Yin crossed my path in Tulum, Mexico. From there I did a training with Yamuna, just for myself. Then later I went to train with Joe Phee to do my 200TT, I’ve since trained twice with Bernie Clark and Diana Batt along with a few others. I teach in the Caribbean mostly but am back in New Zealand for a few months to get a few things sorted over here. Thank you for opening this world to me, I’ll be forever grateful Faye on a very personal level 🙏

I have had the pleasure of attending Fayes yoga classes at her yoga studio, urban calm in Dunedin. The amazing space that Faye provided, along with her excellent teaching methods and her completely unassuming, warm and welcoming nature made everyone who attended her classes feel like they had a special place to practice. The health benifits were excellent, both physical and mental - due directly to how Faye set up and run her studio. If I could recommend every GP and mental health worker to prescribe anything, this would be at the top of the list.  I wish Faye the best of luck in future pursuits, she would be an asset to anyone.
